STAYING MOTIVATED: Five Ways to Renew Your Motivation Daily

– By, Monica Lynn

Motivation is tricky. When it comes to slaying goals, you must pump yourself up to succeed on a daily basis.

Sometimes when my work days are long, and I have deadlines facing me the next morning, I find the desire to do anything is next to impossible.

I have to make a conscious effort to motivate myself thru the gunky, overwhelmed feelings and I know I’m not along. It’s a normal process!

When it comes to pressing ahead many ask, “What are somethings I can do to get myself moving again?” I am sharing my favorite tips w/you here:

  1. DON’T BEAT YOURSELF UP

Let’s all say together, “It’s okay that I’m not feeling motivated today!”

Stop beating yourself up and giving yourself a guilt trip, when you simply cannot muster the energy. It happens to the best of us and it’s absolutely normal to think, “No! No more. Enough already!”

Beating yourself about the things that you are finding it hard to accomplish, will only make matters worse and your load appear more daunting. It serves no functional purpose whatsoever. I find that when this happens, I am already well on the road to being overwhelmed. Don’t fall victim to this mindset!

It’s okay to get the “ughs” every once and a while. Next time it occurs, recognize it and accept that it happens to the best of us, and quite simply, pick up where you left off.

  1. REST

I am a night owl like no other. I work best at 3-4 am when my husband and kids are asleep. When the house is quiet, I shine! These are my most creative hours. The downside is, at 6-7 am, it catches up to me and I want to hit the pillow to catch up on the sleep I’ve lost.

Being an entrepreneur affords me the ability to sleep in every now and then, but that’s not always a good thing.

I very rarely have the luxury of a nap. So, when I finally can, I do w/out regrets. I shut it down, off, and so on. This is an important aspect of slaying your goals, as it actually allows you a much-needed time to refresh. It gives you a new perspective and allows you to recharge yourself and produce much better results.

When you’re meeting w/ clients, you have to be alert, sharp and attentive. So, turn off the computer and put the phone down. Your Beauty Rest is necessary!

  1. SET SMALL GOALS TOO

Goals are like stair steps to your vision and mission. They are the bridge that turn your vision and mission, into reality.

Your goals should serve as the tool for you to reach your full potential.

You need to set goals that are so big they scare you. They should be high enough to be challenging, bold and audacious. This will help to discipline you, make you more focused and intentional in your actions.

Although, you must maintain the smaller goals too! They will help keep you motivated along the way.

The small steps build the momentum towards the larger ones.

Keep your focus on the finish line!

  1. REVIEW YOUR GOALS OFTEN

Many would advise that you review your goals monthly or weekly. I would go a step further and advise that you review your goals daily.

Write them down. Writing them will make a bigger impression on your psyche. Then, each morning, start your day with a 20-30-minute meditation and review your goals. Include your personal, spiritual and business goals.

You will be amazed at how focused your day will be.

  1. QUOTES

Quotes are an awesome source of inspiration. Many collect them and display them in their personal space. (I know I sure do!) I actually consider myself to be a bit of a “quote hoarder”. I live for them and absolutely love reading them, when I need that extra energy boost or bit of motivation to help me slay my tasks ahead.

I’m not ashamed to say, I revisit my goals often when I need to re-spark my motivation.

#Mindful Reading Tip: Read your quote, then immediately re-read it again slowly. After each quote, close your eyes for a moment and reflect on the words and their meaning to you. Savor it like a forbidden piece of chocolate and be mindful of the ones that stand out to you the most. Sit in them for a few moments, let the words brew in you and watch them manifest in your actions!

Now ask yourself, “What gets me motivated?” I would love your feedback, so please drop a few lines to let me know about your process and how you like this compilation.
